I am a firm believer in the quote “never say never”. Especially, when it comes to fashion. With luxury fashion, trends, and “hot items” are being posted on social media every minute of every hour. You will never know what influence Instagram might have on you.
Sometimes when we are deciding on a high end item, we can’t decide whether to splurge on the designer brand or buy high-street or save money by buying the cheaper fast fashion alternative. Well with these items…none will do! Money isn’t the issue.
It is fairly safe to say for me, there are some luxury items that I would never buy. Regardless of my disposable income. I can have all the money in the world, but these items will never reach my closet threshold. Okay, I know I’m being a tad bit dramatic – but am I though?
Beyoncé Ain’t Always right!
Listen, I love me some Queen Bee, but Beyonce Got This One Wrong. Toward the end of Summer of 2021, Beyoncé posted a picture on her Instagram. Of course she looked beautiful, but the shoes she was wearing had me thinking it was a promo for The Bratz movie. Maybe she was staring in a cartoon made to movie or doing the voiceover for one on the dolls. Nope.
She was wearing the Versace Medusa Aevitas Platform Pumps ($1575 USD). Which I – not so affectionately call – Bratz Shoes. These shoes are doing the most. Platforms are on trend right, but come on! They look like cartoon shoes, because the are cartoon shoes.
By the way, also NOT a fan of the Aminu Mudi heels. I said that with my chest, because those shoes are not cute.
Designer Collaborations
Designer collaborations are all the hype right now, but is that all it is? Hype? The fashion world came in strong in 2021 with exciting new collaborations between some of the most popular and beloved fashion houses. Collaborations has not let go of the reigns in 2022. Prada and Adidas are back at it with their collection of limited edition pieces. The French fashion house, Balmain has teamed up with none other than Barbie – yes the doll Barbie – to create a playful limited-edition collection. Dior has even teamed up with Technogym to create limited-edition sports equipment, ranging from a treadmill and workout bench to an exercise ball, emblazoned with the Dior star.
One of my favorite teams are back since their hugely popular first collection from last year. Gucci and The North Face released a new range that celebrates the spirit of exploration and style.
As fabulous as some of these pieces are. Emphasis on some. I think the hype won’t withstand the test of time. Which means, your investment wont withstand the test of time. Now listen, if you do not look purchase luxury goods with investment in mind, then happy shopping!
Shearling/Fur Handbags
Shearling and fur handbag look very cozy to carry during the cold winter months. You’ve already invested in a warm, winter-ready coat. But what about your handbag? Ugh, no. It’s a handbag. Your purse isn’t supposed to have supposed to have a coat. Plus, how are you supposed to clean it? Dry Cleaners?
